Luke Stuart, an Australian ex-professional rugby league footballer, was born 24 February 1977. He played for the South Sydney Rabbitohs of the National Rugby League (NRL). He was second-row. Stuart was with South Sydney in 2002 when the NRL competition was reopened.
He played the majority of South Sydney’s Finals games while also playing at Second-Row, Prop. He was a regular starter, and was sometimes used as an impact player. His role was to support Souths’ forward pack of Roy Asotasi (John Sutton), David Fa’alogo, and Peter Cusack. Souths reached the 2007 finals series, which was the first time that the club had made it to the finals since 1989.
He was selected for City in the City vs Country match on 8 May 2009. At 32 years and 73 days, the selection makes Stuart the oldest NRL player to make their representative debut, a record previously held by Scott Sattler.
Stuart’s final game for South Sydney in the top grade came in round 5 of the 2011 NRL season against the Wests Tigers at the Sydney Football Stadium which finished in a 30–6 loss.
Stuart joined South Sydney in 2002 and was a part of the club’s inaugural game following their readmission. This was against arch-rivals, the Sydney Roosters. Souths lost 40-6 at Sydney Football Stadium. Souths struggled on the field for the next three seasons and came last in 2003, 2004, and 2006.

Stuart made his grade debut against the Auckland Warriors at Mt. Smart Stadium. Stuart played six games in 1999 NRL season as Cronulla won Minor Premiership. They were one of the favourites to win the competition, but were defeated at Stadium Australia by St. George. Stuart was a part of almost every Cronulla game in 2001’s NRL season. The club reached another preliminary final, but were defeated at the Sydney Football Stadium by eventual premiers Newcastle.
He was considered to be one of South Sydney’s best performers since their readmission into the NRL in 2002. His efforts were rewarded when he was appointed replacement captain for Roy Asotasi, who was injured, for the final few games of 2009.
In 2008, he won the George Piggins Medal as the club’s best and fairest player for the season.
