Ludmilla Tourischeva is one of the most popular and richest Artistic Gymnast who was born on October 7, 1952 in Grozny, Chechnya, Russia. Ludmilla Ivanovna tourischeva (Russian name: LiudmilaIvanovna Turishcheva; sometimes transliterated as Ludmilla Turkischeva, Ludmilla Turnischcheva and Ljudmila Turichtchieva) was born October 7, 1952. She is a former Russian gymnast who won nine Olympic medals for the Soviet Union.

Tourischeva is the only woman, along with Yelena Schushunova, to have won the “grand Slam” of all-around titles, including the Olympics, World Championships and World Cup. She is also the only woman to have won four gold medals at a World Championships in 1974. Simone Biles, a US woman, won four gold medals at the World Championships in 2014. 2015 and 2018.

She was also known for her gracious manner. At the 1976 Olympics, she walked around the podium to personally congratulate champion Comăneci and shake her hand before accepting her own medal.

After struggling with a back injury, Tourischeva competed in her third Olympics, the 1976 Summer Games in Montreal, where she won her third team gold with the Soviet squad. In the all-around, she finished third behind Comăneci and Kim. She won silver medals on vault and floor exercise in the event finals, losing to Kim but overcoming Comăneci, bringing her total Olympic medal count to four gold, three silver, and two bronze.

Tourischeva was awarded the all-around medal at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. However, she was quickly overshadowed and surpassed by her younger compatriot Olga Korbut. She was able to qualify for the finals of all four events and won a silver medal and a bronze. Tourischeva was the first female gymnast to use two pieces of music in her floor routines at an international competition. She used “March” from Circus by Isaak Duaevsky for the team competition. For all-around, she used music from Die Frau meiner Traume, Franz Grothe.
