Lucas Martin, born February 22, 1968, is an American soccer forward. Martin was a soccer forward for the United States. He played in three seasons with the Western Soccer Alliance, and one in American Professional Soccer League. He was also awarded two caps for the U.S. National team. He is currently the co-owner of K&L Bistro, Sebastopol in California.

Martin started playing soccer with the San Diego Nomads in 1986 while still at UCLA. Through the 1990 season, he remained with the team. The 1987 WSA champion was won by the Nomads. They were again champions in 1989. The American Professional Soccer League was formed in 1990 when the WSA and the American Soccer League merged. The Nomads did not make it to the playoffs, and they withdrew from the league at the conclusion of the season. Martin signed on July 15, 1994 with the Sacramento Knights, Continental Indoor Soccer League. He completed the season with the Knights.

Martin was awarded two caps in the U.S. National Team’s January 1988 game. His first game was against Guatemala in January 10th, a 1-0 defeat. He was replaced by Kevin Grimes. Three days later, the second game saw a 1-0 victory over Guatemala.

Martin attended elementary school in Sterling, Virginia. His older brother Danny taught him how to play soccer early on. Martin was a keen soccer player and wanted to become a goalkeeper early in his career. Martin started playing soccer with the 1967 Sterling Blackhawks in the mid-1970s. His family later moved to La Jolla in late 1970s. Martin graduated from La Jolla High School in 1986. From 1986 to 1988, he attended UCLA and played for the men’s soccer sideline. He was the offensive MVP of the team in 1986.

Martin was selected to the U.S. team that qualified for the 1987 FIFA U-20 World Championship. The U.S. finished 1-2 in group play, but did not progress to the second round.

After retiring from playing professionally, Martin began a career as a chef. He worked at Jardinière, Chapeau, the Rubicon and Hayes Street Grill, all top San Francisco restaurants. While working at Hayes Street Grill, he met his wife, Karen. In October 2001, they opened the K&L Bistro in Sebastopol, California where both serve as chefs.
