Castiglia was loaned to A.C. Cesena in July 2009. However, he only made two appearances on the first team. In January 2010, Juventus recalled Castiglia and loaned him to Lega Pro Prima Divisione club Reggiana. He made 8 league appearances. After the expiration date of his loan agreement, he returned to Juventus on June 30, 2010. However, he was sent again on loan to Lega Pro Prima Divisione to F.C. Esperia Viareggio was his next destination.

With Viareggio, Castiglia made 30 league appearances and 4 appearances in the 2010–11 Coppa Italia Lega Pro, and on 30 June 2011, he returned to Juventus. Castiglia represented the reserve team during the 2011 pre-season as overage player, along with fellow first team players Albin Ekdal and Oussama Essabr.

On 3 August 2012, Juventus sold Castiiglia to Serie B side, Vicenza Calcio on another co-ownership deal for a nominal fee of €500. Castiglia was a regular performer for the club during the 2012–13 Serie B, making 33 league appearances and scoring 5 goals, though his efforts were not enough to save the club from being relegated to the Lega Pro Prima Divisione for the 2013–14 Lega Pro Prima Divisione.

Castiglia was first called up to the first team by Claudio Ranieri, his then coach in Serie A. On 27 January 2008, Castiglia made his senior debut as a substitute in a 1-3 away win over Livorno. This match was part of the Serie A league. In Serie A, he made one more senior appearance for the club. He was an 89-minute substitute in a 3-3 draw against Sampdoria on day three of the 2007-08 Serie A Season. He made his debut in UEFA Champions League 2008-09, as a substitute for BATE Borisov in a 0-0 draw. He was instrumental in the winning of the Viareggio Cup by the Juventus Primavera team in February 2009.

Castiglia was born in Ceva, Italy. He began his youth football career with Carcarese before being scouted and signed by Torino Calcio’s youth academy in Serie A. Castiglia was transferred to the city rivals Juventus Football Club after seven years in the youth club of the Piedmont-based team. Torino FC SpA was promoted back to Serie A in 2005, but the club went bankrupt. However, some of the players were retained for the new entity Torino FC SpA for 2005-06 Serie B.

Castiglia joined Juventus in 2005 and registered with the club’s youth section at the beginning of the 2006-06 season. He went on to score 2 goals in 22 league matches for the club during the 2011–12 Lega Pro Prima Divisione season. On 20 June 2012, however, he returned to Juventus after the co-ownership deal was not renewed.
