Arbogast was born to a soldier from Strasbourg and a mother of German descent. He grew up in Egaux de Landrais, dans in Aigrefeuille-d’Aunis region, south- east of La Rochelle. When he was only 10, his family moved to Alsace in the Munster Valley. Luc attended the Metzeral communal school, then College Frederic Hartmann in Munster. He learned the Alsacien dialect. At a young age, he began playing guitar and participated in musical events. He studied shoemaking at Lycee Frederic Kirschleger, Munster.

Arbogast began singing traditional songs after learning them in traditional music. He also learned to play traditional instruments like the lute, bouzouki and bells. His music is influenced by Cantigas de Christmas Maria, German lyrics poet Walther von der Vogelweide and French composer Guillaume de Machaut. He began his career as a busker in 1996. He chose locations close to cathedrals and squares, and participated in festivals dedicated to traditional medieval music throughout France. He began releasing limited-edition independent albums such as Fjall d’yr Vinur (2003) and Domus (2004). Hortus Dei (2007) was his last album. Aux Portes de Sananda (2009) was his first. In 2011, he began a professional music career. He released the album Canticum In Terra in 2012. Participating artists were Melinda Bressan, Aliocha Regnard, Jean Louis Renou, Sarah Picaud, and Aliocha Regnard, all playing the Western concert flute.

In 2013, Luc Arbogast took part in season 2 of the French reality television competition The Voice, la plus belle voix with all four judges (Garou, Jenifer, Florent Pagny and Louis Bertignac) turning their chairs around. He picked Jenifer as his mentor. He won the battle round against fellow Team Jenifer competitor Thomas Vaccari and reached the live rounds.
