Cook was born in Maidstone, Kent on 14 May 1987. Robert, her father, gave her a battery-powered vehicle for her sixth birthday. Cook used the car for hours until it died. She also caused damage to the family’s home. Coventry University taught her car design. Cook was nineteen when she first experienced rallying. She was at a car show, and saw an advertisement encouraging more women to rally. Despite not having any previous rallying experience, she entered the race and finished second out of 1,000 women. Cook was the first to participate in a rally, driving a Peugeot205 on the 2006 Rockingham Stages. Cook was 51st among 105 competitors and was the youngest driver to participate in the race. She formed her partnership with Stefan Davis, her co-driver, at this rally.

Cook started competing in the World Rally Championship in 2012 in the production class and drove a Ford Fiesta ST. Her team was still undecided about whether or not they wanted to enter, but she filed an entry just before it closed. Cook finished in second place at the season-opening Monte Carlo Rally. Cook was able to secure sixth place in her next rally, five months later, in Greece. Cook was unable to afford Rally New Zealand due to financial difficulties and had to sell her trophies to raise PS17,000 to continue the championship.

Cook turned to crowdfunding and sold more of her trophies to enable her to pay for her entry fees for WRC-3 in 2017 after some of her major sponsors pulled out. She had to retire from Rally Sweden after losing her Ford Fiesta’s bumper before the Colin’s Crest jump during the second pass over the Vargåsen stage. Cook was able to re-assemble the car, but a homologation problem in the spare seat brackets made her unable to start the final leg of the rally. Although her name was in the entry list for the fourth round of the season, the Tour de Corse, she could not raise the necessary amount of funding to take part in the rally.

Cook entered the 2018 Rally Italia Sardegna as a private entrant in a WRC-3 Peugeot 208 R2 that she hired from Spanish team Mavisa Sport after the Ford Fiesta R2 she intended to drive could not be used because no team manager could be found to enter the car for scrutineering the week before. She prepared for the rally by taking a 30 km (19 mi) test. Cook finished third out of four entrants after problems with seat padding in pre-rally scrutineering was deemed illegal, reducing her visibility. She switched to Team Floral to drive its Ford Fiesta R2T for Rallye Deutschland and received donations from crowdfunding to enter the event. Cook placed third out of four entrants. She followed this with a ninth-place finish in the season’s next round, Rally Turkey.

In February 2010, she quit her job as Kent County Council’s receptionist to make it possible to rally. She was successful in her first season, taking four podium finishes, two of which were victories. She was also ranked in the top 10 standings at the British Rally Championship Challenge. Cook’s success led to her winning the C4 title and the Women’s championship. She did not finish on the podium in the next season, but she finished second in her class rankings at the end of her campaign. The championship’s penultimate rally, the Rally Yorkshire, was a close-fought battle. This rally became the last rally of the season after the cancellation of Rally Isle of Man. Cook had to rethink her strategy after this event. Cook’s results enabled her to win the Ladies’ title for the second consecutive year.

Louise Cook, born 14 May 1987, is a British rally driver. She was the first woman to win FIA Production Car Cup 2WD Drivers in 2012. Cook won the British Rally Championship Ladies title in 2010 and 2011, despite a difficult career that saw her struggle to get enough sponsorship.

She was on an annual trip to Finland in 2009 to improve her handling skills. Two years later, Cook was involved in an accident that saw her car collide with a frozen snowbank at 130 mph (210 km/h). This resulted in her breaking her collarbone as well as nine ribs. Cook entered a rally championship in

2009. She sought sponsors to support her Promotion 50 plan. This plan focused on 500 sponsors contributing PS50 each. Cook’s plan gained the support of 300 companies. With the help of commercial sponsors and her own contributions she was able secure the funds required to participate in the British Rally Championship 2010.

In 2014, Cook trained the actor Idris Elba in helping him refine his rallying ability for the BBC documentary Idris Elba: King of Speed. Days before she was due to enter the 2015 Rally d’Italia, a surgical screw from an operation three years previously got stuck in her subclavian artery and obstructed blood flow which led to her being transported to Maidstone Hospital. Cook consequently had her clavicle plate carefully removed but it took her time to get her strength back. It was announced in July 2016 that she had obtained the funding which allowed her to take part in the Rally Finland. Cook survived an intermittent engine misfire caused by a damaged crankshaft sensor and this prompted a mid-rally engine switch. She eventually finished 53rd overall.
