Louis Philippe is one of the most popular and richest Journalist who was born on June 24, 1959 in Yvetot, France. Philippe Auclair, born 24 June 1959, also known as Louis Philippe, was a French singer-songwriter and musician. He has been active since the mid-1980s. He was an in-house producer and writer for the short-lived el label. He has become one of the ‘elder statemen’ of indiepop since the demise of the label (1989).

Louis Philippe worked with Young Marble Giants’ leader Stuart Moxham in the 1990s. The duo has played many live dates and have released a CD called The Huddle House in 2007. The CD was released by Auclair’s record label, Wonder Records in London. Louis co-produced and arranged Louise Le May’s debut CD, Tell me Something That is New (Folkwit Records), in 2010. He also completed Louise Le May’s debut album in April 2015. My Favourite part of you (2002) and The Wonder of it All (2004) were released. In February 2007, a live double- album was published. A new studio album, An Unknown Spring, followed in May 2007. In the fall of 2010, The Ocean Tango was released. It was recorded and recorded by Testbild! from Sweden. A second duo album, The Devil Laughs, was recorded with Stuart Moxham and released on March 2020 by tinyGLOBAL Solutions, Chicago.

After the death of El in 1989, he moved to Japan to continue his career. He had the support of celebrities like Cornelius. A number of albums followed, all of them released on the Trattoria label: Rainfall, 1991; Jean Renoir, 1992, both of them recorded with multi-instrumentalist Dean Brodrick; “Delta Kiss”, 1993; Sunshine, produced by Bertrand Burgalat, 1994; Jackie Girl, 1996, the first of his records to feature XTC guitarist Dave Gregory; ‘Azure’, recorded with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, and Nusch, a collection of Francis Poulenc melodies, 1999. Danny Manners, a long-time collaborator and pianist, was instrumental in the conception and realization of all these albums. With Trattoria’s assistance, he was able to obtain licenses in France, Spain, and Britain, as well as the USA where he had a small but dedicated fan base. His “cult” status within the indiepop community was consolidated by these critically-acclaimed records. A few of his songs charted. “L’Hiver te va bien”, a song from France, reached the Top 30 in 1994. “She Means Every To Me” reached no.1 on the Campus Radio Charts USA in 1998 after an appearance at New York’s CMJ Music Marathon. Despite the popularity of his music, and the respect he has among pop connoisseurs, crossover success is still difficult to achieve.
