Lisa-Michelle Scaffidi, nee Sanders, was born 12 February 1960 and is the former Lord Mayor of Perth. After Peter Nattrass’ retirement, Scaffidi was elected mayor in October 2007. Scaffidi, along with the rest of City of Perth council members, have been suspended as the state government investigates the operations of the council.

The State Administrative Tribunal of Western Australia ruled in May 2017 that Scaffidi had violated 45 laws. They were concerned with gifts and travel from overseas. The tribunal could disqualify Scaffidi from office for up five years. The previous month, the Western Australian Premier Mark McGowan called for Scaffidi’s resignation and said that he would consider the options to remove the lord-mayor. He also asked the City of Perth councillors for a motion of confidence in the lord Mayor. Scaffidi resigned on 8 September in order to appeal the court ruling.

In early December 2017, the Court of Appeal set aside the Tribunal’s orders, and Scaffidi announced that she would return to her statutory duties on 8 January 2018.

A government-appointed commission will oversee the city’s operations while the investigation is underway.
