Lionel Tan is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on June 5, 1997 in Singapore. Lionel Tan (Chen Yi Wei, born 5 Jun 1997) is a professional Singaporean footballer. He currently plays as a Defender in Hougang United FC’s S.League, Singapore’s highest tier of competitive soccer. After graduating from Singapore Sports School, he was with the National Football Academy in Singapore. He began his football career in 2016 with Home United FC Prime League. In 2017, he moved to Hougang United FC S.League.
He also participated in the 2016 AFC Under-19 Championship qualifiers, playing against Thailand. The team lost 3-0. He also played against Chinese Taipei.
Tan moved to the Protectors in 2016 and was made the vice captain of the prime league squad.
Tan then moved to Hougang United for the 2017 S.League season. He made his debut for the Cheetahs against Tampines Rovers, coming on as a substitute in the 61st minute before earning a shock first start in the following match against Brunei DPMM in a 2–0 defeat.
After graduating from the Singapore Sports School, Tan began his football career in 2015 with the National Football Academy (NFA) U-18 team. After his success with the NFA, Tan had hoped to join the Garena Younglions squad. Tan, however, jumped at the chance of being reunited at Home United’s Prime League squad with Robin Chitrakar.
