Lionel Chalmers, Jr., a retired American professional basketball player, was born November 10, 1980. He last played for Gediz Universitesi in the Turkish Basketball First League. He stands 6’0″ (1.83m) tall and plays the position of point guard.

He moved to Italy’s first division team Benetton Treviso in July 2007. After spending a season with Benetton Treviso in Italy, he signed for the Russian club Universitet Yugra Surgut. Surgut was his best season, with him scoring 21.4 points per match. He played in the 2009-10 Super League season with Enisey Krasnoyarsk. He signed with BC Lokomotiv Kuban in July 2010. He joined Aliaga Petkim in Turkey in 2012. He signed a one year contract with Levski Sofia in October 2013. He won the National Basketball League of Bulgaria with them.

In July 2014, he signed with Chalons-Reims of the French LNB Pro A. On January 9, 2015, he parted ways with them.

Chalmers attended Xavier University, where he played college basketball for four years as an undergraduate and later as a graduate student. As a senior, he led Xavier to the Elite Eight round of the NCAA Tournament. He was inducted into the Xavier University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015.

He was a member of the Phoenix Suns’ summer league, but he wasn’t retained by the Suns. He was also a player for the Atlanta Hawks in the 2006 preseason. Chalmers was released by the Hawks in the middle of the regular season. He signed with Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari, an Italian second division bank. He signed in May 2007 with Basket CAI Zaragoza, a Spanish ACB club.
