American country music singer Lionel Burke Cartwright was born February 10, 1960. Cartwright charted 12 singles on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles & Tracks Charts between 1988 and 1992. This included a No. Cartwright charted “Leap of Faith” as the No. 1 single in 1991. He also charted in Top 10 with “Give me His Last Chance”, I Watched It All On My Radio” and “My Heart Is Set on You”. Cartwright also has three studio albums on MCA Records.
His third and final MCA album, Chasin’ the Sun, was released in 1991. Cartwright collaborated with many producers and musicians, unlike his previous two albums. The album was his first No. The album produced his only No. 1 country hit, “Leap of Faith”, but the singles that followed were less successful. “What Kind of Fool” was No. 24 and “Family Tree”, which was No. 62 peak. He charted the second single, “Be My Angel”, and then left MCA in 1992. He also wrote the song “If That’s What You Call Love” for Kathy Mattea’s 1997 album Love Travels. This song featured him as a background singer and piano player.
In 1990, he released his next album, “I Watched It on the Radio”. The No. 8 “I watched it all (on my radio)” which he co-wrote along with Don Schlitz. It was followed by the No. 7 “My Heart is Set on You” and No. 31 “Say it’s not true” It was also his highest-selling Top Country Album, reaching No. 21. Brown also produced this album.

Cartwright later moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he worked as a demo- singer. Tony Brown, a MCA Records producer, saw him while he was performing in Knoxville. Brown believed Cartwright required more experience to be signed to a record contract. Cartwright was signed to MCA in 1986.
Tony Brown produced Cartwright’s debut album, self-titled. It was released in 1989. The No. 1 single, “You’re Going to Make Her Mine”, was charted. 45 on the country charts. Then came three Top 20 hits: “Like Father/ Like Son” at No. 14, “Give Me His Last Chance” at Number. 3, and “In My Eyes”, at No. 12. Cartwright composed nine of the ten songs and also played guitar, fiddle and mandolin.
Since exiting MCA, Cartwright has composed themes for television series, including 30 Minute Meals. By 2013, he had become worship pastor at HopePark Church in Nashville.
