Carl Linus Bylund, a Swedish politician for Sweden Democrats, was born 2 January 1978. Bylund was elected in 2014 to the Riksdag. He was previously the press secretary to Jimmie Akesson, and the chief of staff for Sweden Democratic in the Riksdag.
Some of Bylund’s public comments have been controversial, including one tweet on the day after the Norway attacks in 2011, whereby he said “The next devil that pity every kind Muslim when bleeding Norwegians lie in the streets” According to Bylund, the background was that Bylund’s Twitter feed was full of tweets that compared Norway’s attacks to other bomb attacks in Middle East.
In 2014, he was elected to the Riksdag where he is a member of the Committee on Social insurance (Socialförsäkringsutskottet). Following Åkesson’s sick leave due to burnout shortly after the election, Bylund was described in Dagens Nyheter as vital in helping Åkesson through the 2014 campaign; however, Bylund expressed that this was a myth.
In the 2014 election he was member of the election preparation committee which nominated the candidates for the party’s lists in the election. Like two other members of the election committee he was at the same a candidate to the Riksdag list himself; something that attracted criticism from some of the party’s grassroots.
Bylund was the top-ranked Sweden Democrats’ candidate in Stockholm in the 2010 elections. However, the party didn’t win any seats in Stockholm’s city council. However, the party entered the Riksdag for the first time and Bylund was made press secretary to Jimmy Akesson. This position was later transformed into a chief-of-staff role.
