Just as the loan window was closing, Ridehalgh’s parent club Huddersfield Town recalled him from Chesterfield and sent him to Rotherham United on loan. After Ridehalgh’s first team spot to Nathan Smith, Paul Cook’s management allowed Ridehalgh to be terminated by the club. Two days later, Ridehalgh made the league debut for the club in a 1-0 victory over Exeter City. Ridehalgh made an immediate impact. After seven appearances, Ridehalgh’s loan spell at Rotherham United was extended to the end of the season. Ridehalgh was injured towards the end of the season and could only make one appearance after his return from injury. He came on as a substitute in the 1-0 victory over Plymouth Argyle. Ridehalgh still made 20 appearances and helped the club to be promoted to League One.

At the end of the 2012–13 season, Ridehalgh was offered a new contract by the club.

On 28 September 2013, Ridehalgh joined Tranmere Rovers on a 3-month loan, and made his début against Port Vale on the same day. Unfortunately, he got sent off within 30 minutes of his début, and Tranmere eventually lost 1–0 at Prenton Park. He made 15 appearances for the Rovers, and scored one goal against Bristol City on 16 November 2013. Having made seventeen appearance, Ridehalgh loan spell with Tranmere Rovers came to an end.

After a successful recovery at Huddersfield Town’s pre-season friendly on September 28, 2011, it announced that Ridehalgh had joined Football League Two side Swindon Town for a month on loan. He was previously isolated by Calum Woods and Gary Naysmith. Ridehalgh was hoping to play at Swindon Town when he joined Swindon Town. Ridehalgh made his league debut with the club on September 30, 2011. He was substituted for Raffaele de Vita in the 75th minute of a 2-0 victory over Macclesfield Town. Ridehalgh was able to gain first-team experience at Swindon Town and his loan was extended one month later. Ridehalgh returned to Huddersfield on the 28th of December 2011 after having played 13 games for Swindon Town. This placed them in the playoffs. Before Ridehalgh was recalled by Huddersfield Town on 28 December 2011, Ridehalgh’s loan spell at Swindon Town was set to continue until the end.

Ridehalgh was a member of the Huddersfield Town Academy’s under-12 team and joined the academy his first year. Ridehalgh, despite not being selected for the first team squad was awarded the number thirty shirt. Ridehalgh continued his development through the club’s youth program, signing his first professional contract with the club at end of 2008-09 season. After completing the academy, he signed a one year extension contract at end of 2009-10 season.

Due to an injury to Gary Naysmith, he made his Terriers debut in the 3-1 victory over Charlton Athletic at Galpharm Stadium on 28 Aug 2010. Naysmith’s injury led to Manager Lee Clarke deciding not to loan Ridehalgh out, citing a left-back crisis. Peter Clarke, the Club captain, was impressed by Ridehalgh’s performance throughout the season. He described him as the “best debut Clarke has ever seen from an adolescent.” After his recovery from the fever, Ridehalgh developed glandular fever due to weight loss and began rehabilitation. Ridehalgh sustained a foot injury in a match against Tranmere Rotors, which forced him out of the remainder of the season. Ridehalgh was a regular with the first team, until Naysmith’s return from his foot injury in February 2011. He made a total 20 league appearances and three more in the FA Cup. Ridehalgh signed a two-year contract on 20 April 2011. He would keep the contract until 2013.

He then went on loan to League One strugglers Chesterfield on a deal that would last to the end of the 2011–12 season, playing his first game in the 0–2 home defeat at the hands of Exeter City on 7 January 2012. He scored his first ever career league goal on 27 January in a 1–0 win against Bournemouth. Ridehalgh made an impressive display for Chesterfield despite being relegated and made twenty appearance and scoring once. He returned to the club for a second loan spell on 24 August 2012 for one month. Ridehalgh’s first game after signing for the club on his second loan spell came on 25 August 2012, where he came on as a substitute for Danny Whitaker in the 78th minutes, in a 1–1 draw against Rotherham United. Having made seven appearance in his second spell, Ridehalgh loan spell with Huddersfield Town was extended by two months.
