He signed for Spalding United in August 2004, and was their leading scorer. Before joining Wisbech Town, he joined them in June 2005. He joined Holbeach United after two successful seasons at Wisbech. After a few months at Holbeach, where he continued to score goals, Nimmo decided to move to Conference North club Gainsborough Trinity, three league levels higher than Holbeach. Nimmo refused a move to Boston United in July 2008. He felt that his back injury was preventing him from doing justice at the higher levels. After the 2008-09 season, Nimmo left the club and joined Bourne Town. He returned to Holbeach after playing one match for Bourne.

During the 2003-2004 season, he was a member of the Football League for Grimsby Town.

Nimmo made his Grimsby debut on 12 September 2003. He was a substitute for Jonathan Rowan at 61 minutes in a 8-1 loss to Hartlepool United in League One. Nimmo was again a substitute in Grimsby’s next match, but that was his final first-team appearance before being released at the conclusion of the season.

Nimmo was born and raised in Boston, Lincolnshire. He started his football career at Grimsby Town, and was awarded a professional contract in Oct 2003. He was later added to a team that was full of attacking players and featured such players as Phil Jevons, Iffy Onuora and Isaiah Rankin.

Nimmo moved on to Bourne Town, before moving back to Holbeach in 2009. He moved to Boston Town in 2010, and in July 2011 he signed for Wisbech Town.
