Liam Daish is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on September 23, 1968 in Portsmouth, United Kingdom. Liam Sean Daish, born 23 September 1968, is an ex-footballer who was a centre-half. Daish, despite being from England, played international for the Republic of Ireland because of his Irish heritage. Daish was awarded five caps for his adopted nation.
Barry Fry signed him in January 1994 for Birmingham City, for a cost of PS50,000 because of his performance for Cambridge United.
He joined non-league Havant & Waterlooville in 1999, going on to make 157 appearances (1 as substitute) in league and cup competitions, scoring 15 goals, before his playing career was finally ended by a knee injury sustained in October 2002. In April 2000 he took on a joint-manager role alongside Mick Jenkins after Billy Gilbert stood down. He spent three-and-a-half years in this role, during which time he took the club to the semi-final of the FA Trophy in 2003, before being sacked in January 2004 following a string of bad results. Following this, he joined Welling United F.C. as a coach. For a time, following the dismissal of Paul Parker, Daish served as caretaker-manager of Welling but did not get the job full-time, despite leading the side to three wins and a draw in his four games in charge.
Daish left Welling in February 2005 to become manager of Gravesend & Northfleet F.C., which in May 2007 was renamed Ebbsfleet United F.C., and he oversaw the club’s move to a full-time playing squad.
Daish was at St Andrew’s for just over two years and made nearly 100 appearances across all competitions. Daish was the captain of the team to the 1994-95 Division Two championship and the victory at Wembley in the Football League Trophy final. Fry, the man who managed him during his time at Birmingham, once said that Daish would try to stop a squadron F-111s from attacking the Birmingham penalty area.

Daish was born in Portsmouth (Hampshire) and started his football career with Portsmouth F.C. He only made one appearance with the club’s original team before being released in 1988. He searched for first-team football and found it at Cambridge United. Daish was a Cambridge United player who helped the club move from the Fourth to Second Division. On 19 February 1992, he made his international debut representing the Republic of Ireland. He was at home in Wales while Cambridge were trying to secure a third consecutive promotion. They fell in the playoffs, and were relegated one year later.
Daish, then the captain of Birmingham City under Barry Fry, scored against Chester on 10/12 1994 to make it 0-4. Daish began to play the toy trumpet thrown by a Blues fan during the celebrations. The referee booked him and increased his season’s points to 41, resulting in a ban of three matches. Fry wasn’t amused. “I understand the referee has instructions to follow, but to be banned by being booked for that seems too harsh.”
In February 1996, Daish joined Coventry City for a fee of £1.5 million. He made an immediate impact, bolstering Coventry’s shaky defence and improving their form overall. However, in the four seasons that he spent at Coventry, Daish was never a regular in the first team (he played in only 34 games for the Sky Blues). This was the result of a severe knee ligament injury which eventually forced his retirement from the professional game after two years on the sidelines.
