Li Zhanshu is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on August 30, 1950 in Pingshan, Hebei, China. Li was born in Pingshan County in Hebei province, in 1950. In 1975, he was elected to the Communist Party of China (CPC). His career began as an ordinary functionary in Shijiazhuang’s capital, where he worked as an office worker for both the Shijiazhuang business bureau and the Shijiazhuang political committee. Li attended night school at the Hebei Normal University in 1980. He graduated from the University of Wuji and was made Party Secretary of Wuji County. At the same time, the party chief of Zhengding County, which was located just outside of Wuji, was Xi Jinping. This is the current General Secretary of China’s Communist Party of China.

Li was appointed the executive deputy director of General Office of Communist Party of China in July 2012. He was being trained to succeed Ling Jihua. Two months later, he was appointed Director of the General Office. Three months later Li was named Secretary of Zhong Zhi Gong Wei Shu Ji, the Work Committee for Organs Directly Reporting To the Central Committee. Li, who was regarded as a rising star, was elected to the Politburo of Communist Party of China at November’s 18th Party Congress 2012. This was unusual for a General Office chief. Li (Ling Jihua) was not a member of this Politburo, signaling that Li would have significant clout in Xi Jinping’s administration. Li was also appointed Secretary of the Central Secretariat, as is the customary for the general office chief. Li was also appointed chief of the General Office for the newly created National Security Commission in 2013.

Li was an alternate member of the 16th and 17th Central Committees of the Communist Party of China and was a full member of the 18th Central Committee.

Li was chosen to be a member of the 19th Politburo Standing Committee, China’s top decision-making body, at the 1st Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on 25 October 2017.

Li was appointed Deputy Party Secretary of Heilongjiang in December 2003. He assumed the position of Vice Governor a year later. Outside observers classified Li at the time as a Tuanpai member, which is a group of officials who have a history in the Communist Youth League. Li was confirmed as the acting Governor in January 2008 after Zhang Zuoji, then Governor of China, resigned on December 25, 2007. Li was elected Party Secretary for Guizhou province in August 2010. This was his first position at the top of a provincial government. Li wasn’t yet a member of the Central Committee at the time. It was rare for someone to be elected as the provincial party chief without holding a full seat in the Central Committee.
