Hogg was born in Bristol and began his career at Bristol Rovers. He rose from the youth team to the top of the first team in 1999. Although he did not make an appearance his first year, he was a solid player in the midfield and was appointed team captain by Garry Thompson. Hogg was released in 2003 by the club after Thompson left. Hogg played in 74 league matches, scoring three times for the Pirates. Hogg also appeared in 17 cup games, scoring 3 more goals, including a memorable equalizer at Goodison Park against Everton, a Premier League side, in the League Cup.
Hogg quickly found himself on the move, signing with Conference South side Weston-super-Mare back in December 2003. Hogg quickly became a strong midfielder for The Seagulls, and he spent two-and-a half years at Woodspring Stadium.
He departed Bath following the club’s relegation to the Conference South after signing for Gloucester City of the Conference North in June 2012.
