Leszek Czarnecki, who was 22 years old when he got his license in the early 80s, was one of the youngest Polish diving instructors. In 1986, his passion for cave diving led him to set up his first commercial diving company –Przedsiebiorstwo Techniki Alpinistyczno-Nurkowej TAN S.A. He was a professional diver, using heavy equipment to do underwater work. He still loves diving. He holds two records, one in Poland and one worldwide. He broke the Polish record of diving to 194m in Boesmansgat cave, South Africa in September 2003. At 16 degrees Celsius, the decompression took 4 hours and 48 mins. Nuno Gomes, who holds two deep-sea diving records, in open sea to 318.25m and cave to 283m. He assisted him. Mexico’s Leszek Czarnecki set a world record for the longest cavern distance – 17km in the system of caverns Dos Ojos, on the Yucatan Peninsula. He participated in an expedition to the North Pole in 2006 and a Bikini Atoll expedition in order to discover the wrecks. He went on a Siberian wilderness trip in 2007 with diving in Lake Baikal. In 2008, he traveled to Antarctica. In 2010, he explored wrecks in Micronesia’s Truck Lagoon, where he scuba dived multiple times, as well as in Galapagos.
His passion for cave diving inspired him to start a commercial diving business — Przedsiebiorstwo Hydrotechniki i Inzynierii TAN. He was the founder and principal shareholder of Europejski Fundusz Leasingowy, which he established in 1991. This was the first and eventually the largest Polish lease company. He sold the company to Credit Agricole France for PLN900 million in 2001 and became the CEO Credit Agricole Poland. He was also responsible for managing other companies in the group, including EFL, Lukas, TU Europa and TU na Zycie Europa as well as Getin Service Provider S.A.
In 2002-2003, he was the CEO and managing director responsible for leasing and insurance at Credit Agricole Poland. Until the end of November 2004, he was the CEO of Getin Holding, and until May 2006 CEO of Getin Bank.
