Leslie Claudis O’Neal, born May 7, 1964, is an American former professional football player. He was a defensive end for thirteen years in the National Football League (NFL). After spending the majority of his professional career with the San Diego Chargers, he moved on to the St. Louis Rams or Kansas City Chiefs. During his professional career, he was a three-time All-Pro selection and six-time Pro Bowl selection.
O’Neal, a college football player, was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame on March 11, 2020. Oklahoma State’s sixth member of this Hall of Fame.
On October 16 1988, he returned to the Chargers and had another 12 /2 sacks. He was again in his dominant form and was awarded the first of six Pro Bowl selections. From 1990 to 1995, O’Neal was the Chargers’ leader in sacks. He also earned three second-team All Pro selections during that time. He led the American Football Conference (AFC), with a record 17 sacks in 1992. His final four seasons were spent with the Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Rams.

O’Neal was selected in the first round by the San Diego Chargers with the eighth overall pick in 1986 NFL draft. After recording 12 sacks and a record five against the Dallas Cowboys, O’Neal was named the NFL Defensive Rookie Of The Year.
