Long White Line (for orchestra), Rhythmic Voodoo percussion and electronica are some of his works. Music for a Lonely Zamboni (piano trio), and Marshland. Barber composed music for Yo-Yo Ma in the television series Yo-Yo Ma – Inspired by Bach.
Barber’s film scoring work includes Kenneth Lonergan’s Academy Award-nominated feature movie You Can Count on Me. Jerry Rothwell’s award winning documentary, How to Change the World. Mira Nair’s Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning documentary Hysterical Blindness was also nominated. Mary Harron’s The Moth Diaries and Patricia Rozema’s Mansfield Park were both Emmy- and Golden Globe- winning films. Other films by Lesleys include a remake and a film about Beaches. Attiya Khan’s award-winning documentary, A Better Man, was directed by Boaz Yankin. The Netflix feature Nappily Ever after, directed and written by Haifaa alMansour. Irreplaceable You was directed by Stephanie Laing. Late Night, which stars Emma Thompson and Mindy Caling, was directed and produced by Nisha Ganatra. Barber recorded music in Toronto, Los Angeles and New York. He also worked with Miramax and New Line, Focus Features and Nickelodeon.

Lesley Barber (born 1962) is a Canadian composer of music for film, theatre, chamber and orchestral ensembles and she is also a conductor, pianist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. Barber is most well-known for her film scores for Manchester by the Sea and Late Night, You Can Count on Me. She also composed music for the animated TV series Little Bear.
Barber was featured on The Hollywood Reporter Composer Roundtable in 2016 as the first female composer. She appeared alongside Justin Hurwitz and Nicholas Britell, John Debney and Hauschka.
After university, Barber spent several years scoring for the alternative theatre scene in Toronto, creating music for over 20 theatre productions. Notable theatre works include Brad Fraser’s Unidentified Human Remains and The True Nature of Love George F. Walker’s Love and Anger, Nothing Sacred, Escape from Happiness, and Michel Garneau’s The Warriors. The latter two productions received Dora Mavor Moore Awards for Outstanding Original Score.
