Les Collins is one of the most popular and richest Motorcycle Racer who was born on May 24, 1958 in Manchester, United Kingdom. Born 24 May 1958, Leslie Collins is a former speedway rider. He was runner-up at the 1982 Speedway World Championship, as well as the Intercontinental Final in 1982 and the British Under-21 Championships in 1977 and 1980.
Collins was drafted by the Sheffield Tigers in 1984, while still playing in the top British League league. He signed for the Edinburgh Monarchs in 1986, and he rode there for ten years. He was the Monarchs’ first pair champion, with Doug Wyer. Collins was part of the Monarchs team that won the 1993 National League Four Team Tournament.
It was at Glasgow in the 2001 and 2002 seasons he rode with his son Aidan. The 2002 team was unique as there was a second father and son connection. Former Leicester teammate Mark Courtney was also in the line-up with his son Scott.
He had a spell in 2002 with the Workington Comets but returned to Glasgow in 2003 where he was again ever present, as he was in 2000 and 2001.
In 1980, he moved to Leicester Lions where he remained until 1983. However, it was 1982 that proved to be his greatest season. He qualified for the Speedway World Championship final and won the Inter Continental title. He was the only rider to defeat Bruce Penhall, the eventual champion and defending champion of Speedway World Championships. Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum hosted the final.

Collins had four brothers, all of whom were speedway racers, including Neil, Phil, Neil, and Stephen, who were all 1976 World Champions. Aidan Collins’ nephew Chris was also a rider, but both have since retired.
Collins was born in Manchester, England. He started his career with Crewe Kings and then moved to Belle Vue Aces. In 1976, he was loaned to Stoke Potters. However, in 1977, he became a member of the Aces and rode alongside his brother Peter and a family friend Chris Morton.
1996 saw Collins riding in the top flight again, with the Cradley Heathens at Stoke followed by a year in the Premier League back with the Stoke Potters. Collins missed the whole of the 1998 season but in 1999 he returned to the sport with Edinburgh’s rivals, the Glasgow Tigers.
