Leroy Rosenior MBE, born 24 August 1964, is a professional pundit and football coach. His former clubs include Fulham, Queens Park Rangers, Bristol City, West Ham United and West Ham United. Rosenior was a youth international from England, and then he switched to Sierra Leone to play for the national football team.
Rosenior, who had been appointed Torquay United’s head coach by Keith Curle on 17 May 2007, was reportedly fired after a mere 10 minutes. This made him the longest-serving manager in English football history. It was also the time that Torquay United were purchased by a local consortium, which made Colin Lee their chief executive. He then appointed Paul Buckle, a former Gulls player and assistant manager at Exeter City, as manager.
Rosenior works as a presenter and pundit on G-Sports, an African Pay-Per-View channel, and for the BBC’s coverage of the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations. Other punditry work has included BBC Radio 5 Live as well as The Football League Show and The League Cup Show on BBC television. He also appeared alongside fellow ex-pro Graeme Murty and presenter James Richardson in the BBC South, BBC South West and BBC West local Monday night football round-up show, Late Kick Off.
Rosenior is a leading anti-racism campaigner in British football and travels the country working as an ambassador for the Show Racism The Red Card campaign. In 2018 he was awarded an MBE for his work in tackling discrimination in football and elsewhere in society.
He was appointed first coach of Shrewsbury Town’s team in March 2006. He also served as an assistant manager to Gary Peters. In June 2006, he left to succeed Martin Allen at Brentford. He had succeeded Martin Allen 20 years ago, when he was appointed as a substitute for Allen in the 1986 League Cup final. After 16 consecutive games without a win in which Rosenior was unable to score, he left the club five months later. This culminated with a 4-0 defeat at home to Crewe Alexandra.
