He was awarded the Philip Leverhulme Award by the Leverhulme Trust in 2007. He was also awarded the Corday-Morgan award by the Royal Society of Chemistry in 2012.

Lee Cronin received his B.Sc. (1994) as well as Ph.D. (1997) degree at the University of York.
