Leonardo Menichini (born December 11 1953) is a famous Italian football manager, and a former player. He was manager for the last time of Salernitana.

In April 28, 2008, Menichini was appointed as the new head coach for Serie C2 promotion hopefuls Lumezzane to replace Mario Petrone, who was dismissed following 4 consecutive losses. In his time, Lumezzane qualified to the promotion playoffs, and eventually was victorious, which secured that they were into the Lega Pro Prima Divisione 2008-09. The club later confirmed him as the club’s helm for the forthcoming season.

From 18 December 2012 to 10 February 2013 he then served as head coach of Grosseto in Serie B. On March 2014, he then served as new manager of Lega Pro Prima Divisione club Pisa until the end of the season.

On 18 August 2014 he was named new head coach of Lega Pro club Salernitana.

In February 5, 2005, Menichini returned into football and replaced Salvo D’Adderio as the head of Sassari Torres, who were at risk of being relegated in the Serie A1 league and later, he led his team to keep their place in the third highest Italian division.

After his retirement from the game, Menichini became a coach and worked along with Carlo Mazzone from 1993 to 2003, with top-flight teams like Cagliari, AS Roma, Napoli, Bologna, Perugia and Brescia. In 2003 Menichini accepted an offer to join newly promoted Serie A team Ancona to be the boss of the biancorossi but his first stint as head coach was unproductive, as the team was dismissed after just four weeks as the head coach for the club.

Menichini later moved to Albania as the head coach at KF Tirana in 2005-06; However, he was dismissed in November 25, 2005 following conflicts with KF Tirana’s board. He resigned leaving KF Tirana in second place. Menichini then returned to work with Mazzone between February and June 2006, following Mazzone’s ineffective tenure as Livorno head coach of Livorno.

In June 2010 he was appointed head coach of Calabrian side Crotone for the club’s 2010–11 Serie B season. He was dismissed on 27 November 2010 after a 1–2 home loss to Vicenza, leaving Crotone in 11th place after 17 games. He was reinstated as Crotone head coach on 20 February 2011, following a string of negative results that led to the dismissal of Eugenio Corini. On 23 January 2012 he was finally sacked.
