He invented his BOID Agent Architecture (with colleagues from Vrije Universiteit) as well as the area of input and output logic (with David Makinson) and also games-theoretic approaches to normal multi-agent system (with Guido Boella from the University of Turin). He was the initiator of workshop on coordination and organizational (CoOrg) as well as interdisciplinarity in the study of roles (ROLES) as well as on normalized multi-agent systems (NORMAS). He was named an ECCAI Fellow in the year 2015.
After a few positions at Germany (Max Planck Institute of Informatics at Saarbrucken), France (Marie Curie fellow, CNRS-IRIT Toulouse) and in the Netherlands (CWI Amsterdam Vrije University), was appointed to in the University of Luxembourg as a full professor in Intelligent Systems in January 2006. He is currently the director of the Computer Science and Communication Research Unit. As of March 15 12 students had finished the requirements for their PhD under his direction while 10 of his postdocs were awarded permanent positions in university research or education.
