Lena Platonos is one of the most popular and richest Composer who was born on October 21, 1951 in Heraklion, Crete, Greece. born at Heraklion, Crete in 1951 (but born at Athens), Platonos is the daughter of George Platon and Antigone Astrinaki. The father of her George was an internationally-known composer, and was the first pianist of the Greek National Opera. Lena began to play the piano at age two years old, and then began lessons with her father.

In December 2005, the book “My Words” (ed. Odos Panos) was released, which contained verses taken from songs. The February 2008 single CD ”I loved You”” was released in 160,000 copies along in the weekly editions of daily newspaper Eleftherotypia (Kyriakatiki Eleftherotypia), in March 2008, her new album “Diaries,” with an autobiographical origin, debuted and she returned back to the world of electronic. On July 28, 2008, at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus there was a retrospective performance of her work. aside from her, Elli Paspalas, Martha Phridzilas, Constantinos Veta, and Yiannis Palamidas and Vassilikos (from Raining Pleasure) took part.

In October 2014 Lena Platonos set to music selected poems by George Chronas on the record ″Sacred Pain″, with the participation of Pantelis Theocharidis and Melina Kanas.

Lena Platonos (born 21 October 1951) is a Greek musician also a music composer and electronic artist. She played a prominent role in the world of electronic music in the 1980s, and her work was a source of the basis to Greek electronic musicians later on in the decade.

She was a student at The Athens Conservatoire under the guidance of Phoebe Vallinda and Marika Papaioannou and was a professional pianist at the age of 18 In 1963, she was awarded First Prize in the Katie Papaioannou Prize. She left with an award for study abroad first in the Vienna Academy and then in Berlin which is in Berlin, where she was introduced with jazz, rock and oriental music. After returning to Greece during the regime and worked with Heracles Triantaphyllidis as well as his group “DNA” before going into Berlin in 1975 before returning in the year 1978. Alongside her spouse Dimitris Marangopoulos, she began working with the Third Programme of the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT), which is where she became acquainted to Manos Hatzidakis who was at the time the director for the Third. Together with Hatzidakis she formed a long-term professional and friendly connection. She participated in the making of the program “Lilipoupoli”. She wrote lyrics and music composed by her, are among the most popular songs from the broadcast, including ‘Roza-Rozalia’ as well as “The dance of the Peas’.

In 2010 followed a double disc with the live recording of the performance at the Pallas with the participation of her well-known colleagues Savina Yannatou and Yiannis Palamidas, while in December of the same year, Lena Platonos set poems of Constantine P. Cavafy to music for the performance which was given at the Pallas, directed by Dimitris Papaioannou, on the occasion of the 150 years from the birth of the great Egyptiot-Greek poet.
