Vaziri did not make her place on the USA Olympic Swimming Team when she was 7th in the finals of the 100m backstroke event at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials.
In the 2007 World Aquatics Championships held in Melbourne, Vaziri won a gold medal in the 50-meter backstroke. He also took home a silver medal for swimming the backstroke in the heats of the 4×100 meter Medley relay. In the finals of the 50m backstroke Vaziri had been the undisputed favourite to win gold. In the finals of the 50 m backstroke Vaziri defeated the Natalie Coughlin Championship record time of 28.30 with the time of 28.25 making a record-breaking American Record. In the semi-finals of the 50m backstroke the swimmer broke Janine Pietsch’s record of 28.19 by clocking 28.16. At the end of the 50m backstroke, she broke her own record in way to winning gold.
