For 2009 and 2010 she raced for the Abt Sportsline team, who were the 2008 champions. For 2009 she was the only one of the 5 drivers in the Abt Sportline team using the previous year’s car.

In the off-season of 2005-2006 Legge tried her hand at driving a Champ Car once for Rocketsports Racing and twice with PKV Racing. In February of 2006 it was announced she would be driving for PKV Racing for 2006. In June she became the first female to be the first woman to lead a lap in the history of the series, completing 12 laps in Milwaukee. Legge was involved in a violent crash during the 2005 Grand Prix of Road America when the rear wing on her car snapped. prior to entering the Toyota Atlantic series, Guildford-born Legge was a competitor in several development open-wheel races in Britain such as Formula Three, Formula Renault and Formula Ford. She won the 2000 race and became the first female racer to get the position of a pole in the Zetec race. She broke Kimi Raikkonen’s lap record , and got a pole. Additionally, she was the first female to be awarded the BRDC’s “Rising Star” accolade.

The move of Legge into America United States came about in 2004 when, after running out of funds to fund the racing she had been involved in, she went to Cosworth’s UK Cosworth’s offices. Cosworth and refused to leave until she’d seen Cosworth manager Kevin Kalkhoven. Kalkhoven instructed his daughter to contact Legge to convince her to go home. After an exchange of words with Legge she then told Kalkhoven that she would like to meet her. Kalkhoven then gave her a ride in the initial three races of 2005’s Toyota Atlantic Championship with Polestar Motor Racing It was her first time on a full-time basis. She took the championship’s opening race in Long Beach in her first career Atlantic start. As a result it was the first female to win an open- wheel developmental race within North America. Legge took her third and second victories of the season in Edmonton as well as San Jose. She finished 3rd in the championship, with five podiums and three wins. She also won her Toyota Atlantic BBS Rising Star 2005 Award.

In November 2005, Legge became the first woman to test a Formula One car since Sarah Fisher in 2002, when she tested on the second and third days (22 and 23 November) of the Minardi team’s final testing session at Vallelunga. After she crashed after 2 laps on her first run on the track, it was decided to postpone the test until the following day, on which she completed 27 laps with a best lap time of 1:21.176. She was also the first woman to test an A1 Grand Prix car, on 9–11 December 2005 with A1 Team Great Britain.
