On June 11, 2010 Bielecki suffered a serious eye injury in an international game against Croatia. Following further tests and eye operations, it was concluded that his left eye would remain blind. While he initially said his career as a footballer were done, he decided to pursue his career. He later played with special glasses and scored 11 goals on his Bundesliga debut following the injury.
He was a member of the national team and was awarded the silver medal at the World Handball Championship in 2007 and a bronze medal in 2009 and in 2015. He announced his departure as a player for the Polish national squad on April 13, 2012, following the shambles of the Olympic campaign in Poland.
On 20 May 2018, he announced his retirement as a player.
