Justine Elliot is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on July 29, 1967 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Maria Justine Elliot MP (born 29 July 1967) is an Australian politician is the Labor representative for Richmond, the Australian House of Representatives seat of Richmond from the federal election of 2004. Between 2007 between 2007 and 2010 Elliot was Minister for Aging.

Elliot has served as Chairman of the Federal Labor Country Caucus since 2014, and also the Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee on Petitions since 2016.

The election of 2007 resulted in Elliot elected again against her opponent, Nationals’ Sue Page. She scored an increase of more than 7.4 points which was significantly higher that her New South Wales state average and, technically, resulted in Richmond a secure Labor seat. The Prime Minister Kevin Rudd announced she would join his new government on November 29, 2007 as the Minister for Ageing. She was elected as Minister for Ageing at the time of the 2010 election with only a slight turn against Labor. She was removed as Minister for Ageing prior to the creation of the Second Gillard Ministry on 11 September 2010. The 11th September of 2010 Elliot was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to Foreign Affairs and Trade, and held the position until the reorganization of the Ministry on the 4th of February 2013, when she was made a backbencher. The reason she announced the reason for this was her opposing coal-seam gas extraction (CSG) within the electorate, and this conflicted with her position as the Parliamentary Secretary. Elliot kept Richmond to represent Labor in the 2013 election, even though the Coalition opposition was able to defeat that incumbent Labor government. It was this the second occasion (the first was her initial election victory back at the time of her victory in 2004) that the non-Labor party were in power without having control of Richmond. The same election was won by her with a bigger majority in the 2016 election.

Elliot also has an Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management & Industrial Relations from Griffith University.

In a major upset in the 2004 elections, Elliot defeated the National Party’s Larry Anthony, a minister within the Howard government. Elliot’s victory was among the few victories of the Labor Party as the Coalition easily secured a fourth term as the government. She was the only Labor member to ever get the seat and was the only Labor opponent to defeat the Coalition MP from rural areas. Richmond was at the mercy of the conservative party for the entire six years prior to Federation in the year 1886, and during 66 of those years, it was governed it was governed by The National Party. For the majority of that time the seat was relatively secure National seat. But the expansion of Tweed Heads and other coastal communities along with the disappearance of its rural area is what has made it more urban in the last decade. Elliot was trailing Anthony in the race by eleven points at the beginning of the count, and was close to Anthony throughout the evening. But on the seventh count one Green candidate’s preferences flowed towards Elliot and she was able to beat Anthony by 331 votes.
