Julius Aghahowa (born 12 February 1982) is an Nigerian Former professional soccer player who was striker. He was well-known for his speed and back-flips during goals. Aghahowa was the first foreigner outside his former Soviet Union, who was among the top scorers of his Ukrainian Premier League 2000-01 season.

However, he could not find himself as a regular starter and was loaned out to PFC Sevastopol at the beginning of the 2010–11 season. He was released at the end of the 2011–12 season, announcing his retirement from the game in April 2013.
Aghahowa played in 32 games as a goal scorer for his Nigerian national team. This included their sole goal in 2002’s World Cup against Sweden. Aghahowa was Nigeria’s top goalscorer during the 2002 African Nations Cup. He also took part in the 2000 Summer Olympics.

The city of his birth is Benin City, Aghahowa began his career working for his local police team, the Police Machines, a local police force, before moving onto Bendel Insurance. He was signed by Danish Lower Division team Herning Fremad before the 1999 African Youth Championship, but Aghahowa excelled so well that he was keen to play for a larger club. He was signed by the Tunisian Champions, Esperance, when he obtained a contract from the Tunisians, which was signed prior to his Herning Fremad agreement.
In the mid-season of 2000-01, Aghahowa transferred to Shakhtar Donetsk which soon took home their first Ukrainian League Championship. Aghahowa took the trophy with Shakhtar at the time of the 2006 Ukrainian Championship against Dynamo Kyiv and was the one to lead the winner into extra time and winning the title of man of the game. The performance of Aghahowa in the championship final was widely considered to be one of the “saving grace” of his career at Shakhtar as his future with Shakhtar looking uncertain at the beginning of the season. After six years of playing with Shakhtar Donetsk, Aghahowa left to join Wigan Athletic.
His work permit was passed and on 30 January 2007, he signed for Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee, playing his first Premiership match for them against Portsmouth on 3 February. Aghahowa did not score for Wigan in one and half years and on 20 June 2008, he signed for Kayserispor.
