Judd Garrett (born June 25 1967) is an ex- American football running back who played in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys. He was also a part of the Las Vegas Posse in the Canadian Football League and the London Monarchs in the World League of American Football. He played in the NCAA football tournament in the NCAA Division at Princeton University. He is currently director for Pro Scouting for the Dallas Cowboys.
He was unable to play in the 1986 season due to the transfer rules, and was being on the scout team which comprised of his brothers. He was a three-year starter at running back before graduating in the year 1990. In his senior season Garrett recorded 307 runs (school record) and 1,347 running yards (school record) and fourteen scores (school record) and was the top receiver on the team with 34 receptions, for 351 yards. He also led his fellow Tigers in their very debut Ivy League championship in 20 years. After his senior year, Garrett was awarded the Asa S. Bushnell Cup which is presented for players who have been named the Ivy League Player of the Year. He was also chosen for the Division IAA All-American team.
On September 11, 1990, he was signed by the Dallas Cowboys to replace running back Timmy Smith, but he suffered an shoulder injury in practice and was placed on the injured reserve list on September 12. He was waived injured after four weeks.
Garrett was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the twelfth round (201st overall) of the 1990 NFL Draft. He was released on September 3.
Garrett was a student at the University School in Hunting Valley, Ohio, where he was awarded a varsity award in basketball, football and track. Garrett was named Most Valuable Player in all three sports during his senior year. In football, in his senior year, Garrett gained a school record of 2,011 yards of rushing and recorded 35 touchdowns. He was named to the All-State First Team and also received The Cleveland Touchdown Club’s Lou Groza Award which is awarded in recognition of those who are the Most Valuable Player in Northeast Ohio. He graduated in the year 1985.
