In the year 1987 Josipa Lisac took part as an contestant in the preselection contest, Jugovizija, with hopes to represent Yugoslavia in the 1987 Eurovision Song Contest. The singer sang her song, Gdje Dunav ljubi nebo (Where Danube kisses the sky) and placed 9th position out of 24. Shortly after the release of her debut album Boginja (Goddess) She became a renowned pop star across Yugoslavia.
In 2018, Josipa performed in Belgrade, Skopje, Sarajevo, Podgorica, Krk, Zürich, Varaždin, Munich, Gothenburg, Stockholm, and Zadar, among other venues.
In February 2020 Josipa performed the Croatian anthem at the inaguration of a president Zoran Milanović. A criminal complaint was submitted against her by attorney Boško Županović for performing and intoning the Croatian national anthem in a derogatory way during the inauguration.
Gubec-Beg became the initial Croatian rock opera in which Josipa played the demanding role of Jana. The premiere of the opera was in 1975. The Arie “Ave Maria” was a memorable tune that Josipa still sings live in the present. It was developed through Karlo Metikos Ivica Krajac as well as Miljenko Prohaska. The show was performed throughout Yugoslavia and also the cities of Budapest, Trieste, Rome as well as Saint Petersburg. It was seen by about 100,000 people.
