Gros played soccer in college in Rutgers University from 2000 to 2003. In his first year, Gros started 15 matches and was the top player in assists with 7. Even though he assumed an established starting position after sophomore however, he scored only 3 points, which were all of which were assists. When he moved to offensive midfield during junior, Gros’s performance increased quickly and he concluded the season by scoring six goals as well as an assist. United The team immediately impressed during the preseason and earned an appearance in the lineup for the regular season. Gros was planning to join the Marine Corps had he not been selected for the team. However, he made the team and his hard work was noticed and he was a surprise choice on the D.C. starting lineup. Gros took advantage of this chance. His impressive, focused play led him to be a regular throughout the season and was a midfielder on either the left or wing. The year ended by playing 21 games and 2087 hours where Gros scored a goal and recorded four assists. Gros continued to be a regular starter for United through the 2005 and the 2006 seasons. In 2006 Gros was selected as an MLS All-Star and played the whole All-Star Game against Chelsea.

Gros is currently the team coordinator for the Philadelphia Union, a Major League Soccer team. He was hired on June 11, 2009 under head coach Piotr Nowak. Nowak coached Gros on the 2004 MLS Cup-Champion D.C. United team. Nowak had previously hired him as an assistant when he led the USA Olympic team to Beijing in 2008.
