Joshua Stevenson Baker (born December 25 in 1986) is an former American tight-end in football. He played in the NCAA football tournament in Northwest Missouri State and the University of Delaware. He played in high school football during his time at Western Branch High School.

Baker was signed by the New York Jets signed Baker as a non-drafted free agent on July 27, 2011. In order to meet the roster requirements, Baker was waived by the Jets on September 3. Baker was subsequently signed to the practice squad the following day. Baker was promoted for the team’s active roster on September 27, 2011, following an injury that ended the season for right-handed tight linebacker Jeff Cumberland. On the 24th of December, 2011 Baker scored his first touchdown of his career with the New York Giants. In the 11 games of the 2011 season, Baker made 3 receptions for 27 yards and the score. Baker also returned three punts to gain 60 yards.

Baker signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on April 1, 2014. He was waived by the Bucs on May 12, 2014.

Baker was refused medical redshirting and was transferred onto Division II Northwest Missouri State. Baker was averaging 66 catches with 838 yards, a touchdown and three rushing touchdowns for Missouri in 2010. He was selected on the Associated Press’ Little All-America Team.

Baker began his college journey in his alma mater, the University of Delaware in 2005. While being among the team’s top scout squad athletes, Baker did not participate in a formal match during the year. In 2006 Baker received the honor of being named as”the Blue Hens’ third string tight end, and played in ten games playing an back-up role mostly in running plays and special teams. Baker made one catch with not even a yard and received a kickoff return of 14 yards. In 2007 Baker was named second string tight end . He was ranked in the sixth spot on the team for receiving. He tallied 20 catches, 344 yards and two touchdowns. As of 2008, Baker was suspended from the team for one year following a violation of the school’s policy of three strikes which included cases such as underage drinking and an unlit candle within his room.

Baker lived at home with the father of his children and his father in Waco, Texas where he went to Collin County Community College and was employed at the OfficeMax working for $9.00 an hour. The money was used to pay for his community fees for college. Baker also trained with an expert trainer to keep in good shape. Delaware did not cancel Baker’s athletic scholarship, and he returned to the team for Redshirting his final season as a senior in the year 2009. Baker suffered multiple knee ligament tears in the opening period during the Blue Hens’ first game in the year, which ended his season.

Baker suffered a severe knee injury on August 26, 2012 and was placed on the team’s injured reserve list the following day. He was waived by the Jets on February 19, 2013.
