Jorge Rodas is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on October 9, 1971 in Jalapa, Jalapa Department, Guatemala. Jorge Alexander Rodas Hurtarte (born September 9th 1991, aged 21) was a former Guatemalan professional football player. He most recently played for Aurora FC in the Guatemalan Primera Division until the close of the 2007-08 football season.

Rodas became the initial Guatemalan footballer to compete in Major League Soccer, when Rodas was a star in the league of San Jose Clash in 1996. He was also a part of the Guatemala national team.

After his tenure with Jalapa ended in 2006, Rodas, aged 35, continued his career with a brief spell with Deportivo Mixco in the Primera División. For the 2007-08 season, he was signed by former top-division team Aurora FC, which had been relegated to the Segunda División the previous season. Aurora earned promotion back to the Primera División for the 2008–2009 season.

The year 1996 was the time that Rodas was the very first Guatemalan to make it into the professional ranks within the United States, when he was accepted to the team of San Jose Clash. Rodas took to the field for the very first Major League Soccer match on April 6. 1996 the day that The Clash beat D.C. United 1-1 at home. Alongside players such as Eric Wynalda, John Doyle as well as Eddie Lewis, Rodas helped San Jose reach the MLS playoffs in. He was a part of 29 games and contributed three assists and scored one goal with the free kick in direct play to New England Revolution on August 11th, which was recorded by the San Jose Earthquakes 100 Greatest Goals DVD as the second-best goal of the team of the season. After the debut MLS campaign, Rodas was transferred back to Communicaciones in the beginning of January 1997.

Rodas was first introduced to Guatemala in the in May of 1991 UNCAF Nations Cup match against El Salvador alongside his brother Julio. Jorge Rodas earned 38 overall caps and scored four goals and was a Guatemalan player during twelve FIFA World Cup qualification matches and was part of the teams which played in the CONCACAF Gold Cup tournaments of 1996 and 2000 and during the UNCAF Nations Cup of 1995 1997, 1999, and 1995. The final match he played for was in January 2001, a World Cup qualification match against Costa Rica.

Rodas began his professional career with Municipal in Guatemala City, where he was first recognized for his skill as a central midfielder , and his shooting skills. Following his 1993-94 success in the league championship with Municipal He then signed with their arch-rivals Comunicaciones and would play in seven championship-winning teams.

Rodas would stay at Comunicaciones until 2002, and after that he played briefly for Xelajú MC. Later, he joined Deportivo Jalapa, achieving further success by helping the team win the Domestic Cup in consecutive years in 2005 and 2006; he scored the only goal of a 1-0 win over Municipal in the 2006 final. He had other notable individual performances at Jalapa, among them scoring a hat-trick against Deportivo Heredia in a 3-2 win on which the team advanced to the semi-final of the 2005 apertura tournament.
