Jonathon Milne was born on the 25th of January, 1986. On 23 December 2012 when he was bathing with wife Sarah in Avoca Beach on the New South Wales Central Coast, Milne injured his neck while diving into the sea which left him paralysed from chest to. Sarah helped him get to shore. He was transported to the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. He stayed for the next five and a quarter months there, as well as there was also the Royal Rehabilitation Hospital in Ryde. He earned the Certificate III of carpentry from TAFE in 2012, however he currently works full-time in Abbey Archery. The year 2015 was the time Milne took part in the National Championships held in Morwell, Victoria, placing eighth in the target event and 12th in the short distance event against athletes with able-bodied bodies and winning the National Para championship. He was selected to represent with Australia during the 2015 Para World Championships in Donaueschingen in Germany and if his performance was in the top 19 athletes, he could be eligible to compete in Rio Olympic Games in the 2016 Rio Paralympics. He came in a strong fourth place, but lost the bronze medal in the final to British’s John Stubbs. As of July 16 the ranking is 40 worldwide in the open compound men’s classification. He is coach by Ricci Cheah. On the 29th of July it was announced that the Australian Paralympic Committee made public his choice for Rio.

In the 2016 Rio Paralympics at Rio Paralympics, He won bronze for the men’s Individual Compound – Open. He became the first Australian archery champion since 1984 when Ian Trewhalla won two silver medals. He was seeded 9th in the tournament and beat highest player Bulent Korkmaz, in the quarterfinal in a game that ended with the last archer.
