Following the completion of studying, Stockhammer moved to Germany and began working with a variety of radio orchestras, including the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra, the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Netherlands Radio Chamber Philharmonic and Oslo Philharmonic, the Oslo Philharmonic, Orchestre National de France. Also, the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Essen Philharmonic and The Czech Philharmonic, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and Ensemble Resonanz. He has frequently conducted opera performances for Opera National de Lyon. Opera National de Lyon. in 2013, Stockhammer was the conductor of the NY City Opera’s performance Thomas Ades’ opera Powder Her Face in collaboration with stage director Jay Scheib.
