Jonathan Cantwell (8 January 1982 to 6 November 2018) was an Australian professional road cyclist who raced for the UCI Professional Continental Team Drapac Cannondale Holistic Development Team.
In the final stretch of 2014’s season, Cantwell was able to retire from professional cycling to pursue triathlon and duathlon. He took part in his 2017 ITU World Triathlon Series.
Cantwell quit Saxo-Tinkoff at the close of the 2013 season and was signed to Drapac Professional Cycling for the 2014 season.

Cantwell raced professionally as a cyclist from 2008 until 2014. In the past, he raced for teams such as the Jittery Joe’s, and Fly V Australia teams. In his time, Cantwell won a stage of the Herald Sun Tour, and two stages of the Tour de Taiwan. In 2011, he won the Australian National Criterium Championships.
Cantwell was a part of Team Saxo Bank for the 2012 season. Cantwell was able to make the Grand Tour debut at the 2012 Tour de France, where the team selected him as lead-out for sprinter Juan Jose Haedo; Cantwell achieved his first top ten position on stage 4, in which he placed in sixth place on stage. He was 137th overall during the Tour.
In 2017, Cantwell revealed that he had undergone an operation for testicular cancer. He died on 7 November 2018 at the age of 36; the cause was suicide (mental illness-related suicide had also claimed the lives of his father and brother). Cantwell had two children.
