John Sloman is one of the most popular and richest Singer who was born on April 26, 1957 in Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom. John Anthony David Sloman was born in Cardiff, South Wales, 26 April 1957, as the oldest from six kids. He is most famous as the lead vocalist of Welsh group Lone Star during 1977/’78 and the classic pop group Uriah Heep in 1979 until 1981.
Sloman collaborated on a number of projects throughout the 1990s such as Souls Unknown with old mates Paladino (who later served for several years as a touring bassist for The Who) and Munro and the Who/Atomic Rooster associated guitarist Steve “Boltz” Bolton. Another project was involving Paladino as well as guitarist Mats Johansson and drummer Theodore Thunder (Dick Heckstall- Smith, Leo Sayer). Sloman was to adopt an identity as Earl Grangetown for The Beat Poets which was a venture into soul music. The project included the former Lone Star bandmate Pete Hurley on bass. While an album was made, it was not released.
Sloman has gone on to produce three more solo albums since the turn of the millennium, Dark Matter (2003) and 13 Storeys (2006), an acoustic affair on which he is credited with playing everything from cello to harmonium, and his latest effort, Reclamation (2010). Toto guitarist Steve Lukather recorded a cover of Sloman’s “Jammin’ with Jesus” off Dark Matter on his 2008 solo album Ever Changing Times. Lukather had originally cut the song with Jeff Beck years earlier but Beck never put it out.
Sloman was later able to make his first solo albums The Todd Rundgren produced Disappearances Can be Deceptive which was which was released on the 29th of September, 1989. The album included contributions from his former Trapper as well as Pulsar members Pino Paladino John Munro, and Gregg Dechert (who had also had a relationship working with Sloman during his time with Uriah Heep) along with a well-known guitar player Alan Murphy.

The first band Sloman was in was the local Cardiff popular Trapper before Sloman was a part of Lone Star in time for their album of the same name in 1977 called”Firing on All Six, supported by an appearance at the Reading Festival show on the 26th of August 1977 as well as a headline tour and a second touring with Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush the following year. Lone Star disbanded before a third album was completed since their guitarist Paul Chapman left to take Michael Schenker’s position in UFO. Four tracks from the BBC broadcast featuring Sloman who was recorded on September 29th 1977 at Queen Mary College. [2 was released on the 29th of September in 1994. a part of BBC Radio One Live In Concert.
Sloman along with Lone Star drummer Dixie Lee and Trapper Bassist Pino Paladino were to join with Canadian outfit Pulsar along with the keyboardist Gregg Dechert and former Ian Thomas Band guitarist Dave Cooper. The band would end up being an unsustainable union when Sloman received a call from an Uriah Heep group in the year 1979, to be the replacement the role of John Lawton. Sloman made an album that was controversial Conquest album together with the group, but quit in 1981 with the group, citing “musical differences.” Uncredited Sloman was also a keyboardist on UFO’s album from 1981 The Wild, the Willing and the Innocent.
Sloman guested with NWOBHM veterans Praying Mantis on 2003’s The Journey Goes On, providing lead vocals on 3 songs, “Tonight”, “Beast Within” and “The Voice.” He is also credited on the 2007 soundtrack for Highlander: The Source as the vocalist performing the Queen hits “Princes of the Universe” and “Who Wants to Live Forever” as well as “The Sun Is Gonna Shine”, a duet with Tamasin Hardy.
