Rafferty Jr. was a senator from Pennsylvania’s 44th district, which encompasses parts of Berks, Chester and Montgomery Counties. He was re-elected to four consecutive terms to the Senate in November 2014.
Rafferty was the Chair of the Senate Transportation Committee. He was also the Vice Chair of the Judiciary Committee, and is a member of both the Appropriations, Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure and Law and Justice Committees. Rafferty has also served on the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency and has been appointed by the president protempore of the Senate to be a member of the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing.
