John Prendergast Biography

John Prendergast is one of the most popular and richest Human Rights Activist who was born on March 21, 1963 in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States. In the second half of the 1980s as well as the beginning of 1990, the Prendergast was employed in a variety of organisations across both the U.S. and Africa, focused on human rights and peace. In the year 1996, at the conclusion of Prendergast joined the National Security Council as Director for African Affairs. He then was a special advisor of Susan Rice at the United States Department of State. As a special advisor, Prendergast was part of the team that led the two and a half-year U.S. effort to broker the end of the Eritrean-Ethiopian War. He was also a involved in the peace process that have been negotiated for Burundi, Sudan and DR Congo. Prendergast has also worked in both the Clinton White House and two members of Congress and resigned from the administration in 2001 in order to become the Special Advisor to the The President of the International Crisis Group on Africa issues. Outside of the government and in private sector, he has worked with organisations like The United States Institute of Peace, UNICEF, and Human Rights Watch.

Prendergast was featured on five shows of 60 Minutes and travelled across Africa in the series with Dateline NBC, ABC’s Nightline, The PBS NewsHour with Jim Lehrer and CNN’s Inside Africa and Newsweek/The Daily Beast and The New York Times Magazine. He also has appeared in a variety of documentaries, including: Merci Congo, Sand and Sorrow, Darfur Now, 3 Points, and War Child. He also co-produced Journey Into Sunset, and is the Executive producer of Staging Hope: Acts of Peace in Northern Uganda, both about Northern Uganda. He also appeared in motion film by Warner Brother The Good Lie.
