John Durnin is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on August 18, 1965 in England, United Kingdom. John Paul Durnin (born 18 August 1965) is an English former footballer who scored 100 goals in 475 league matches in a career that lasted nearly two decades.

Durnin had no club until he joined Football League newcomers Kidderminster Harriers in October 2000, following having been signed by his an ex- Liverpool teammates Jan Molby. He scored nine goals in 32 games between 2000 and 2001, before resigning from Aggborough at the end of the season. The club was recruited by League of Wales side Rhyl as a coach in July 2001. He was back in his former club in Second Division in December 2001 when he joined up to his coach Brian Horton at Port Vale. He was there at Vale Park for eighteen months as well as helping out as a coach before leaving at the end of May. Despite having a skewed age in his 36th year, the player was able to play 19 games during 2001-02 and 31 games in 2002-2003 scoring one goal during every game. At 38, he signed a contract with Conference club Accrington Stanley, and scored four goals in fifteen games before his retirement in 2004.

After retiring, he became a regular for the Liverpool Masters team. In 2019 he was convicted of common assault, impersonating a police officer and a racially-aggravated common assault after two incidents in August 2018 – in mitigation he claimed to have been ’emotionally unstable’ after discovering his wife of three decades had cheated on him; he had another previous conviction for common assault after a road rage incident in 2015.

Durnin was bought by Portsmouth for a price of PS200,000 in July 1993, with Portsmouth manager Jim Smith looking to play on his front with Paul Walsh. Portsmouth was 17th place in the First Division in 1993-94 and 18th in 1994-95. He scored three goals in 1995-96, and “Pompey” avoided the drop after finishing one position ahead of the relegated Millwall due to goal differences. He scored three goals in 35 games during 1996-97 in the same season that Terry Fenwick led the club to 7th , which was three points and one place ahead of Crystal Palace in the final play-off spot. The Fratton Park fans witnessed another relegation battle in 1997-98, when “Pompey” finished two places and one point clear of the relegated Manchester City; Durnin scored 10 goals in his 35 appearances throughout the season. Durnin scored 7 goals over 30 appearances during 1998-99 when Alan Ball led the club to 19th position, ahead of the relegated Bury in terms of goals made. Durnin was kicked out of his first squad spot in the beginning of the 1999-2000 season after his elbow was dislocated by hitting the golf cart into the fairway’s hollow. He was loaned in Second Division Blackpool in November 1999. He then scored two goals in the course of six matches for the Nigel Worthington’s “Tangerines” with strikes against Wigan Athletic in the league and Hendon in the FA Cup. He was signed by Carlisle United on loan the following month, before signing an official contract in Brunton Park the following month in February. He was a part of 23 games with”Cumbrians “Cumbrians” in 1999-2000 as the club finished second from bottom within the Third Division under Martin Wilkinson and avoided relegation to the Conference just because of their better goal differential than Chester City.

Durnin’s journey to the top began at Liverpool at the age of 26, after he was signed by the local non-league club Waterloo Dock for PS500. He was able to play in midfield and at the front, he became frequent within the Liverpool Reserves but failed to get into first-team football. He played only two appearances in the League Cup. In the month of October, 1988, he was loaned for West Bromwich Albion, as one of Brian Talbot’s early hires from The Hawthorns. He scored two goals during the five Second Division appearances before returning to Anfield. The club moved him to Oxford United in February 1989 following the manager Brian Horton paid a fee of £225,000. Oxford United “Yellows” finished 17th in the Second Division in 1988-89 and 1989-90. He made his debut with Liverpool in 1986. He only made three appearances in the cup for the first team . However, the club allowed him to move to Oxford United for a PS225,000 payment in February 1989 having already gained experience as a loan player at West Bromwich Albion. He stayed for four years at Oxford with around 200 games before being sold to Portsmouth for a price of PS200,000 in 1993. Over the course of six seasons in the club “Pompey” he made around 200 appearances. He was loaned to Blackpool after which he was permitted to leave permanently for Carlisle United in 1999. He joined Carlisle United in 2000. joined as a player with Kidderminster Harriers, before he briefly joined in the Welsh football circuit along with Rhyl at the end of 2001. In the following year, he returned into the Football League with Port Vale and then joined Conference team Accrington Stanley for a twelve-month time period beginning in May.

In July 2006, he joined the coaching staff of Southport, but left in October of that year. He returned to Southport as first team coach on a non-contract basis in May 2017, before this arrangement was ended three months later.
