John Cushen is one of the most popular and richest New Zealand cricketer who was born on February 15, 1950 in New Zealand. Cushen was born on February 20, 1950, on the island of Dunedin, Otago.
The 1978-79 season was a time when Cushen play seven games with eight runs scored, while taking wickets of 19 at 26.26. In one day Cushen played three games with one run, while getting five wickets for 19.80. In the winter of 1979-80, He played in five first-class matches and scored 39 runs at an all- time high of 19.50 and taking eight wickets for 26.75. His one-day batting continued be a struggle, with just two runs in the one game he played but he was unable to get the wicket.
Cushen played eight first-class matches in the 1985-86 season, scoring 37 runs at 12.33 in first-class matches however only five in List-A cricket. His success with the ball continued, however, matching his achievements from the previous season with 31 wickets at a more effective 22.93, with a best of 6/34, one of two five-wicket hauls. His one-day efforts returned five wickets at 29.20.
Cushen’s final season was the winter of 1986-87, where he took five more wickets at 36.60 in one day cricket, and 12 at 33.66 in first-class matches. His batting also declined in his final season, scoring 31 runs at a low average of 3.87 in first-class matches, however improving his one-day batting statistics somewhat with 20 runs at 10.00 thanks to one score of 11*. Cushen retired in early 1987, his last match was played between the two first-class teams he represented. Cushen, playing for Otago, failed to take an Auckland wicket as their batsmen scored 320, and scored only three of Otago’s 165 in response. Following on, he made 15, however could not take a wicket in the final innings as Auckland reached their target of little over a 100 for the loss of one wicket.
Cushen was not a participant in another match in cricket until the year 1976, when he started playing in Auckland in the year 1976, and from that point on, his bowling skills improved significantly. In his debut season with the new team He played seven games and batted three times with 14 scores at 14.00 however, using the ball he picked up 27 wickets in 29.37 and a personal best of 4/29. In addition, he took part in 2 List A matches, but was unable to achieve an innings with the bat but he did take five wickets around 11.40. In the following season, the player played an additional eight matches, scoring fifteen scores at 15.00 and also gaining greater success with the ball, taking 21 wickets in 31.90 and a career-best and his maiden five-wicket haul of 6/27. He also played in two List-A matches, scoring his first appearance in the one- day version of the game with two runs without losing, and getting two wickets in the time of 17.00.

John Arthur James Cushen (born 12 February 1950) is an ex- New Zealand cricketer who played twenty years of first-class cricket with Auckland and Otago between 1967 and 1987. A right-arm fast-medium-slow bowler, Cushen had 194 wickets with a strike rate of 28.77 during his playing career and his left-handed batsman in the middle of the scoring order earned him the highest score of 44 but his average was 9.91.
Cushen played his first game for Otago on the 9th January of 1968 part of the Plunket Shield against Canterbury. Cushen took just one wicket in the first innings , scoring 62 runs, and then scored the nine-and-a-duck before Otago had to take the next wicket up, only to see his team fall into an innings-long 44 runs defeat. In the first season of his full-time career, the summer of 1968 and 1969, Cushen played in five matches for the first class during which his score was 74 at 12.33 with a maximum of 27, but was not a great ball player and took six wickets at 71.50. Cushen did not play in the seasons of 1969-70 and 1970-71 and only one game during the period 1971-72 when the wickets were taken at 33.33 each with 23 run scoring at 11.50. Cushen played in three matches during his winter in 1972-1973 hitting 25 runs for 5.00 and battling with the ball and taking three wickets for 79.00. Cushen had also participated in 3 List A matches, but was only asked to bat once, and then dismissed due to a duck. However, he was successful when he played the ball, taking five wickets with a strike rate of 22.80.
He took a career best seven one day wickets in his next season, however, at 29.00 each, and while he only scored nine runs at 4.50 he was able to score 24 runs at 12.00 in first-class matches and take 23 wickets at 19.30. Cushen did not play any matches over the winter of 1981, however he returned for the 1982-83 season with nine wickets at 30.11 in first-class cricket, and four at 9.50 in List-A. With the bat he enjoyed his most successful season, scoring 30 runs at 18.66 in first-class cricket. He scored a career best 19* in one day batting in the 1984-84 season, following another break from the game, along with a career high 44 runs at 11.80 in first-class matches. With the ball, he reached more career highs, with 31 wickets at 24.12 and a best of 5/37 in first-class matches, and 10 wickets at 13.30 in one day games.
