In the year 1970, being in the midst of high school Tripician began a comedy troupe named Absolute Mania together with Robert “Duggan” Hill and Morgan “Skip” Thomas. The group was the host of an on-air comedy show on cable television that aired in South Jersey entitled Absolute Mania that was abruptly cut short after an episode about the famous American Johnny Cash’s drug use sparked controversy. in 1978 Tripician interview John Draper also known as ” Captain Crunch,” the “phone freak” and pioneer computer hacker. The original video of the interview has been incorporated into the collections of the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California. From 1978 to 1979 Tripician had also been employed by Henson Associates as a Production Assistant. He worked together to Jim Henson, the famous creator of The Muppets.

Joseph Tripician, also known as Joe Tripician and Joe Trip is an American producer screenwriter, writer filmmaker, songwriter actor, playwright, and performer. The most well-known of his works are documentaries Borders and Metaphoria and his autobiography Balkanized at Sunrise that is which is based on Tripician’s travels to the Balkans in 1997.

In March 1999, Tripician married Cecilia Tripician. They live in São José dos Campos, São Paulo, Brazil, with their daughters Helena and Olivia.

In 2002, Tripician wrote and performed a one-man show called Balkanized at Sunrise at the Dixon Place Theater in New York City, directed by Gigi van Deckter. Balkanized at Sunrise is also the title of his memoir published on Amazon in 2010, with a second edition published in 2016. Also in 2002, New Riders Press published a book about Macromedia entitled Flash MX Magic and written by Matthew David, Glenn Thomas, Joe Tripician, et al.

Pennebaker. The year 1994 was the first time Tripician received a nomination for an Intercultural Film/Video Fellowship in Media Arts by the Rockefeller Foundation. In the next one year Tripician served as the Online Editor of the prestigious documentary The Conspiracy of Silence, produced by Neal Marshad and Donna Olson. It was in 1997 that Tripician’s hardback volume The Official Alien Abductee’s Handbook was published by Andrews and McMeel. The book served as the basis to Melodies for Abductees, a pop-rock album that featured the novelty track Ozark Melody, composed by Tripician, Frederick Reed and American composer Jeff Buckley, who also performed and sang mandolin and guitar on it. Tripician was also a co-director with Jakov Sedlar the feature film Tudjman that was narrated and performed by the American actor Martin Sheen and based on the biography of the Croatian president, Franjo Tudjman. The following time, Tripician was in the Balkans after being commissioned to by his Croatian Government to create the official biography of Tudjman. The title that was used for the book was Tito’s Shadow. After receiving Tripician editing control over this book, and receiving the entire manuscript, the book’s content led to controversy in the Tudjman government as the novel was subsequently exiled. The book was banned in May of 2002. Joe played his all-man performance Balkanized in Sunrise in the Dixon Place Theater in NYC. The play was inspired by his trip in 1997 in the Balkans. Joe later published his account in a memoir with the same title.

The year 1991 was the year that Tripician composed, directed, edited and co- directed along with Merrill Aldighieri the video documentary Metaphoria which was honored with the Emmy Award for Best Documentary with Cultural Relevance (1992). In the same time, Metaphoria won awards at the Chicago International Film Festival, the Montreal International Film Festival, the Sinking Creek Film Festival, and the Cyber Arts Festival in Los Angeles.

In 1998, Joe co-founded the company iStreamTV in New York City, which provided streaming video services to a number of corporate clients. Tripician worked in that company to 2001.
