Prof Oloka-Onyango is a seasoned litigant who is involved in a variety of matters of constitutional importance and relevant to the Human rights area. He was the main applicant of Constitutional Petition No. 8.14 of 2014 “Oloka- Onyango & 9 Others v. the Attorney General” which was heard by the Constitutional Court wherein the Anti Homosexuality Act of 2014 was declared null and void. He was also among respondents on Constitutional Petition No. 2.03 of 2003 “Uganda Association of Women Lawyers & 5 Others v. the Attorney General” which was successful in challenging the Constitutional legitimacy of a number of clauses in the Ugandan Divorce Act for being contrary to the constitutionally guaranteed rights of equality for everyone, regardless of sexual orientation and women’s rights.

On May 5th 2016, 2016, he assumed charge when he gave the inaugural lecture for staff on the Makerere University School of Law and presented a paper titled “Enter the Dragon, Exit a Myth: The Contested Candidacy of John Patrick Amama Mbabazi”.

On May 9th, 2016, Prof. Oloka-Onyango and eight other law-related students from the Makerere University School of Law successfully submitted an application to the Supreme Court of Uganda for the right to intervene in the Uganda’s 2017 presidential election petition, Amama Mbabazi. Yoweri Mugabe and the Electoral Commission, as Amici Curiae. This was one of the very first times in Ugandan elections in which it was the first time that the Supreme Court heard and granted an application for this leave. The nine law dons were; Oloka-Onyango, Sylvia Tamale, Christopher Mbazira, Ronald Naluwairo, Rose Nakayi, Busingye Kabumba, Daniel Ruhwheza, Kakungulu Mayambala and Daniel Ngabirano. In their report the law dons suggested that the Court the use of structural interdicts , or supervising injunctions in order to tackle the incessant disregard of their suggestions from the Electoral Commission and the State in the context of the election procedure. In its decision the Court declared that
