Jody Sears (born on 21 October 1967) is a American NCAA football coach as well as a former athlete. Sears was interim defense coordinator of Nevada Wolf Pack. He was director of the team for Weber State University from 2012 until 2013, in addition to California State University, Sacramento from 2014 to 2018.
The 2nd of April, 2012 Sears was appointed head coach John L. Smith as the defensive coordinator at Weber State University. Just a few weeks later after, when Smith was forced to step down in order for the position of head coach at the University of Arkansas, Sears was asked to take over as an interim coach. In his two seasons as the head coach at Weber State, he compiled an overall record of 4-19 defeats before being relieved of his obligations.
In 2019, Sears stepped in as defensive coordinator, on an interim basis, to coach the 2019 Nevada Wolf Pack football team on the 2020 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl against Ohio.
Sears was for three years the defensive coordinator in the Washington State Cougars. Following the departure of the head coach Paul Wulff was fired in the last quarter of 2011, and replaced by Washington State head coach Mike Leach didn’t keep any players from the Wulff staff.

When he graduated in 1994 Sears was a graduate student on Iowa State University, where earned his master’s degree. He was an assistant coach in the graduate level of the Iowa State Cyclones football team and was a coach for defensive backs and wide receivers.
in 1998 Sears was appointed the defense coordinator of St. Ambrose University. Following a stint of two years with St. Ambrose, he was an assistant coach for three years at the United States Military Academy, before moving into Eastern Washington University as a defensive coordinator.
In 2014, he was named head coach at California State University, Sacramento. In five years, he compiled an 20–35 record with two winning seasons. Their record in 2017 tied them for third in the Big Sky Conference standings, their best conference finish since 2010.
