Joanne Wise (born 15 March 1971) is an ex-girl British track and field player who participated for the long-jump event. The year 1998 was the time she was awarded the Commonwealth Games gold medal in Kuala Lumpur. She also took part in the Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992 and at the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000.

Wise participated in her 2nd Olympic Games in Sydney, 2000. She fell short by one centimetre, in reaching the final. She was twice AAA’s Champion (1999 and 2000) as well as Three occasions AAAs Indoor Champion (1992, 1997, and 1999) and two times UK Champion (1992 & 1997).

After battling the effects of injuries Wise began the most successful stage of her career at her 1997 World Indoor Championships, finishing fourth in the event with 6.70 meters, which was tied with her record of 6.70 meters set in

1984. UK indoor record set by Susan Hearnshaw set in 1984. She missed out on the bronze medal by only one centimeter. In the same year, she missed the final of the World Championships in Athens. She was a member of England and was crowned the Commonwealth Champion with a jump of 6.63 meters, beating Jackie Edwards and Nicole Boegman. In 1999 during the World Championships in Seville, she came fifth in the finals with a the jump of 6.75 meters, just a fraction of her lifetime record of 6.76 meters which she had made in Malmo just two weeks prior.

Wise is a native of Solihull, England and was part of the Coventry Godiva Harriers. A superb junior She was AAA’s Junior champion at the Under 15 and 17, and under 20 levels. She also took home two English school championships.
