After recovering from a severe knee injury and major surgery on a grapefruit- sized cyst 2006, and after a break-up with her long-time coach Layoff in the last quarter of 2007 Fenn went to Lausanne to be in contact together with Trent Sterling werewolf, a Canadian middle distance coach, with the intention of competing in the her first Olympic Games.
2004 began with a promising start for Fenn with the 800m bronze medal she won during the World Indoor Championships in Budapest, Hungary. Fenn also broke the 1000m British Record before Kelly Holmes kept it the following year. In the 800m event at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, where Fenn was with teammates and eventually gold medallist Kelly Holmes, she progressed through the first round , but in the third of three semi-finals, she did not feel she was running fast enough and was fifth, not being able to make it to the final.
