In 1989 she was a part of Tygodnik Solidarnosc, becoming a journalist in the newspaper’s political section. She then moved on the Express Wieczorny, becoming editor of the publication and earning the interest of Lech Kaczynski, then the head for the Presidential Chancellery. In 1996, Kluzik-Rostkowska enlisted in to the staff of Wprost and became an official correspondent for the political scene. Later, she joined the publication Nowe Panstwo in 2000, and then join the ladies’ weekly Przyjaciolka between 2001 and 2004.
In 2010, Kluzik-Rostkowska presides in Jaroslaw Kaczynski’s campaign in the presidential election in 2010 which was dubbed ‘Poland First’. A prominent moderate in the party She was removed out of Law and Justice after hinting of her intention to run for leader of the party “if need be”. Following her departure, she formed Poland Comes First, a new political organization that includes others Law and Justice dissidents including Sejm representatives Elzbieta Jakubiak and Pawel Poncyljusz as well as MPs Adam Bielan and Michal Kaminski.
In November 2013, Kluzik-Rostkowska was appointed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk as the next Minister of National Education, replacing Krystyna Szumilas.
From August through November 2007, Kluzik-Rostkowska was as Ministry for Labour and Social Policy under the administration of the Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski. Kluzik-Rostkowska took over the role of the Minister Anna Kalata of Self-Defence during an overhaul of the cabinet following Self Defence’s exile out of the Law and Justice-led government. In spite of being defeated in the Kaczynski cabinet’s loss in 2007’s parliamentary elections the Kluzik-Rostkowska government was elected to an office within the Sejm.

Joanna Kluzik-Rostkowska (born on the 14th of December 1963) is a Polish politician who is a member of the Sejm for the Civic Platform. She was elected to the Sejm for Law and Justice in 2007 and was the leader of a breakaway group in 2010 that formed more moderate Poland Comes First, of which she was the head. The party dissolved in June 2011and joined Civic Platform following rumors. In November 2013 following a cabinet change by the Prime of the State Donald Tusk, Kluzik-Rostkowska was appointed head of the Ministry of National Education.
In 2004, Kluzik Rostkowska was a part of Warsaw’s municipal administration, becoming the chief specialist for the press office of the mayor. Kaczynski is now the Mayor of Warsaw and later appointed Kluzik-Rostkowska to head the outreach department for families and women. As an elected member of the Law and Justice, Kluzik-Rostkowska tried to win a seat on the Sejm in the 2005 election for parliament however, she failed to get elected. She did, however, join the cabinet of the newly elected Premier Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz. He made her deputy of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy. Before her appointment to the ministry she expressed her the support of in vitro fertilization in a news interview. This led one of the coalition’s junior partners which is the League of Polish Families, to warn the coalition to withdraw its support. But the League was unable to stop the nomination of Kluzik-Rostkowska, who later became the head of the minister’s committee on equality of women and men.
She resigned from the party leadership on 5 June 2011, prompting rumors of her leaving the party altogether to join Civic Platform. Following her defection to Civic Platform’s ranks, Kluzik-Rostkowska described her decision as to “do everything [to ensure] that Law and Justice do not return to power.” She was reelected to the Sejm as a member of Civic Platform in the 2011 parliamentary election, representing Rybnik.
